About Us

Built for Indian taxpayers.
No fluff, just math.

TaxCalc India is a free income tax calculator for FY 2026-27 (AY 2027-28). It lets you compare the Old and New tax regimes side-by-side in seconds — no login, no spreadsheet, no accountant needed for a quick estimate.

Why we built this

Most Indian tax calculators are buried inside banking apps, require you to create an account, or show you one regime without letting you compare. We wanted something that gives you the full picture — both regimes, slab-by-slab, with a clear verdict — the moment you type your salary.

How the numbers work

The tax engine is built in TypeScript with zero external dependencies. It follows the rules published by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) for FY 2026-27, including:

  • New regime slabs u/s 115BAC with the updated ₹75,000 standard deduction
  • Section 87A rebate — zero tax up to ₹12 lakh taxable income under the New Regime
  • Marginal relief — prevents the cliff effect just above ₹12 lakh
  • Old regime slabs for below-60, senior citizens (60–79), and super senior citizens (80+)
  • All major deductions: 80C, 80D, 80CCD(2), HRA, home loan interest, NPS, and more
  • STCG (20% flat) and LTCG (12.5% flat above ₹1.25 lakh) for equity investments
  • Surcharge (capped at 25% under New Regime) and 4% Health & Education Cess

Privacy

All calculations happen entirely in your browser. No data is ever sent to a server. We use Google Analytics 4 for anonymous, aggregate traffic metrics only — no personal data is collected. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Limitations

This calculator covers the most common tax scenarios for salaried individuals. It does not currently handle business income (PGBP), presumptive taxation, or complex capital gains involving real estate. For these cases, consult a qualified Chartered Accountant.
